The Nakoda Iyethkyabi (Stoney Nakoda people) have lived in and around the Rocky Mountains for millennia. Their origin story is a cultural legacy that narrates the history of the land from a Nakoda perspective. From this history, we learn that first contact with other Indigenous Nations, missionaries, settlers and government officials have taken their toll on the people and their connection to the land. This is part 1 of a 4 part cultural awareness workshop which tells the story of the Stoney Nakoda people and their struggle to regain their heritage and reassert their autonomy since colonization. Additional workshops to be scheduled. Online Link will be sent to the registered email prior to the workshop.
